Baz: The inner front bushings need to have some form of location to prevent front to rear play. The original V8 style one piece bush is located by the bonded steel sleeve and the bond formed between the outer rubber and the a-arm. There is no way of locating a single piece poly bushing in this manner. The two piece bushings have a step which locates the arms and prevents any front to back sliding of the a-arms. I'm not sure how the E-Type bush is located, but I'm thinking it is the one used in the torsion spring pivot in which case it doesn't have to deal with forward to back thrust.
Did you have a problem with the two piece bushes? Just wondering why you were looking for an alternative. The two piece poly bushes have been around for many years and seem to do the job effectively. Just interested.
