    Vacuum

Purchased a 1979 MGB and the previous owner(s) have butchered the vacuum lines.  Is there a diagram available to help put things back to normal?

Smog pump and etc have been removed.

    Hi MGBAndy,

This is the best bet unless you can lay your hands on an original BMC Workshop manual (which is still readily available)

http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Pdfs/MGB/MGB-07A_MGB_pgs_1-64.pdf (P 50 or thereabouts is fuel stuff)

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Vacuum

Thanks for the link.  I think it will help a great deal.

Looks like the "Vacuum advance valve" has been eliminated.  Is this a normal elimination, and is there a test that can be done to see if it is still good?

    Re: Vacuum

Are we talking about the vacuum advance fourth gear switch, normally mounted just forward of the firewall on the driver's side? If so, yes, it is quite normal for this to be bypassed or missing. It is of no great consequence. It was part of the fifty thousand mile drive cycle EPA test compliance routine. It was junk. It only allowed the distributor to get vacuum advance in top gear. Don't worry about its absense.
