Well, Today is the one year anniversary of my joining the Forum. It is also my Twelve hundredth post. I've averaged, therefore, one hundred posts per month. However, this post is a first. This is the very first time I've originated a thresd. I have done so to thank all those who've made kind comments and who have endured some of my long winded explanations and my really painful puns and jokes. I've tried to help. I believe that each professional who has made his or her way in the world by the pleasant means of serving those generally great folks who own English cars owes something back. I have tried to repay that debt by means of educating the owners of these wonderful machines. If I have done nothing more than assist you in being a wiser consumer, I've done something. If I've gotten your brakes bled with your hands, or tuned your carburetters with your eyes and ears, that's even better. Help me help. Let me know if there is some subject you'd like to see covered in greater depth. Tell me if my explanation style needs work. I'm busy, but I can always find time for a friend. And, almost to a person, everyone I've met who owns an older British car like those we discuss on this forum is worthy of being a good friend. Warmest Regards,

Bill, I've been trying to respond to your post, but my internet connection is acting up. This forum has benefitted greatly by having you on it. Your willingness to share of your experience and knowledge is humbling. I for one, have come to enjoy my own British car even more by doing the repairs on it myself as a result of your advice. Let's hope that you choose to be a part of this forum for many years to come. And please thank your wife for being so patient. She must be very special! zach

Well Motorbill, I appreciate all the advice that you have offered me. I also scan through the other posts to see if I can find any other tidbits to help me get our midget in tip top shape, and to check out your lastest puns and jokes. I would however like you to cover the twin su carbuetor adjustment 1 more time from begining to end, just to make sure I have it right. I can't seem to get this darn thing running just the way I want. Thank you, Ken H

Motorbill... Although I don't do the mechanical work on my "B" that doesn't mean I don't read every post that I can. I am always amazed at how well you explain yourself and the necessary steps to take in order to try and get to the bottom of the problem. It is one thing to be standing next to someone and pointing out something in the engine (or carburetor etc),but to be able to walk someone through the process using words alone is truely a gift, and I think I can speak for most of us here at the Forum,you are a rare gift to us all! Thanks for all the wisdom and for holding the lamp,so that we can see what we're doing, here's to another hundred years and a million more puns. Cheers.....Rita

Without ever knowing it, Click and Clack on NPR talked me into buying my Austin Healey Sprite. Without ever meeting you, you've given me the confidence to pursue the restoration. Just knowing that guys like poolboy, radibob, spriggs, and a host of others but especially YOU were out there allowed me to take on the job knowing that I had a compass by which to chart my course. My Dad taught me that all you really need in life is three things; common sense, tools and self-confidence will allow you to accomplish any task...thanks for the confidence part! The common sense came from Mom, while Dad provided the tools AND a good work ethic! When I first started reading the forum, (months before I joined), I thought you were a ringer, paid by Moss, to get people to take on more jobs and buy more parts. I thought that Sears-Craftsman had Bob Vila, and Moss had you. It took me a while to realize that you were just a great guy whom wanted to help other tea burner lovers! I don't know if there is a grease monkey heaven, but you have helped so many people that I'm sure you'll find out! Thanks again for all your help and support!

Motorbill, I am glad that you have found a home here, along with everyone else that has just lurked or only made one post. The Moss forum has been building over the last year and more people every week are discovering that this forum is here to help build community. As for your request for... uh... requests? Hi Folks, Vacation has been mostly relaxing so far, and I'm hoping we can stay on the road for another week or so. We have been pretty much out of web range in northeastern New Mexico until yesterday, but now we're comfortably ensconced in a "campground" in Santa Fe. I use the quotes around campground advisably. We travel in a thirty six foot fifth wheel towed by a big Dodge diesel. I would hardly call that camping. This facility is specifically for big rigs. However, we are lower strata here. We are surrounded by gigantic class "A" coaches towing full size SUVs. Some of these babies run well over a million bucks. For those who know such names, yesterday, a Prevost rolled in towing a Cadillac Escalade as its "dinghy". Sheeshe!! I guess they're scraping by somehow! Anyway, this post is not about such things. What I want to express is that I am truly humbled by the nice things you people have had to say following my original post here. Having read through them it occurs to me that it may have seemed as though I was fishing for compliments. Now, I think we all like to hear folks saying nice things about us. We are all Human (except Chopped Liver) and we want to be appreciated and liked. But please understand, the purpose of my announcement was to thank YOU for making me feel welcome and at home. I am never so happy as when I feel as though I'm being helpful through the process of education. Thank you once again for that opportunity. I will indeed cover the principals of operation and tuning of multiple SUs when I get back to the shop and put out all the little fires which I have no doubt have sprung up while I'm away. Maybe this is one of those things that should be covered in a blog, whatever the heck that actually is.... If I can get the assistance of someone who is smarter than I am with matters computational, I'll do a bit of a pictorial tour of the shop, showing current projects in better detail than the website can address. Once again, thank you all for your generous words. They are making my vacation more enjoyable. Now I better start looking at some of the things that have been posted and see if I can make myself useful. Warmest Regards,
