    77 MGB Thermostatic Cooling Fans

Okay, I'm not that bright.  I just recently bought a 1977 MGB and all of the emission control parts have been removed, the carbs replaced with a Weber unit, and a lot of wiring in the engine compartment were cut.  Among them are the wires for the cooling fans in front of the radiator. Did I mention that he painted everything in the engine compartment - including the wiring - black!  So, from my Haynes MGB manual, I found where the wires are supposed to go, and I think I found where they come out of the wiring harness, but what do I use for the connector on the fan switch in the radiator?

On my 78, I had (I believe) a small, rectangular two hole connector that slid into the receptical on the left side of the radiator.  The connection/sensor was faulty, so my MGB mechanic guru at the time told me simply to bypass the connector by cutting and then splicing the wires.  Worked great.  Fan ran everytime the ignition was on, but it kept the engine cool . . . .

Contact britishwiring.com and see if they have the terminals that would plug onto the switch.  Although nice, you don't have to have the molded plug that would attach to the radiator fan switch.

on my '79, I spliced onto each lead to the thermo switch.  I then ran those to a rocker switch to the dash.  the rocker switch was from kragen and mounted in one of the blanks on the dash.  this way, the fans only run when you want as you monitor the temp guage
