OIL COOLER AND REMOTE OIL FILTER INSTALLATION ON 1969 SPRITE ROAD CAR

I have given up for the moment trying to install an oil cooler and remote oil filter on my 1969 Sprite street car. The real problem is placement of the filter and finding compatable fittings. Any ideas? BTW, i can send photos if that will help explain.....John in San Diego

John, The base of the oil filter (housing) is much the same on all 1275cc. There is a spin on kit on the market and you won't need to change the whole housing. On you your Oil filter housing there should be two bolts on the end remove them for your oil cooler lines to screw into. As for the adaptor fitting it should be 5/8 threaded and the oil filter I use is a STP part# S3614.Hope this helps....

I ran into the same problem, and eventually just paid a machinist $20 to fabricate a hollow threaded adaptor that mated with the remote filter locator.  I bought a standard auto supply oil cooler and oil filter relocation kit.  This allowed me to mount a standard 3/4 quart spin-on filter in an upright position away from the engine.  The hoses are routed cleanly and there's a lot more room around the engine now.
