    DOM registration

    Gents,

I have a question regarding registering an historic vehicle with date of manufacture plates in the state odf NJ.

I have a 1952 MGTD, that is my boss does, I'm the head mecanic for the Co. and resident old car buff

so I wrench the car and he buys all the things it need or he wants for it.But in my mind it's my car as well

So the thing is, he has obtained a pair of 1952 NJ plates and I recall that you can register a car with DOM plates.

What I'd like to know is ,has anyone out there done this and how does one go about it? ie. forms, documents, how to

best inquire with the duly appointed officials at the Dept. of motor vehicles? As for the MG It was purchased about 5 or 6 years

ago from a deceased NJ physicians estate. It was completely redone and left to sit for many years. We have just gotten around to

getting it on the road , fuel sys. brake sys. elec. sys. etc. more about that later. anyone out there experienced with DOM reg.?

    Re: DOM registration

Don't know about in NJ, but here in WA we just take the vintage plate (must not be a reproduction, but an original) and the registration certificate in to the local licensing agency, and get new registration with the new plate number. It's a one-time deal, and never have to pay annual registration fees again (until they change the rules, that is).
