Re: Tell us about your Triumph

It's interesting how supply and demand work. The survivor cars such as yours will get worked on and there will be more demand for parts. The suppliers will hopefully be paying attention to the owners and will expand coverage.

That's one of the reasons this forum was created.

Re: Tell us about your Triumph

1980 TRIUMPH TR7 SPIDERI have always loved the Triumph TR7.  It is likely due to when delivering papers as a boy the dealership was on my paper route and the saleman always gave me product literature and fast rides.  WOW that got me hooked on the 7 and cars.  My career is in the automotive field and now am on my second Triumph TR7.

A few years ago a TR7 Spider became available on Ebay and it was purchased.  After much work it was sold as it was fast becomming a money pit.  It was fuel injected and perhaps selling it was the right decision as they have less power.

A year ago another Spider became for sale on Craiglist in New York, Long Island to be specific.  A gentleman that had it restored was moving and did not have room for it at the new place.  We agreed on pricing, and shipping details and it arrived just in time for my neice's graduation party and she got to drive it.  WOW!!! it made her day complete with a massive and unintentional burn out.

The car has been my pride and joy.  We have shown it in several car shows and have trophies to show for it.  People just love the car and shape of it.  Many do not know just how rare these SPIDERS are actually.  There were only 1200 approximately made.

Since getting this one im my collection, several modifications have been done to it.  The list is growing but includes: addition of correct Spider wheels, replaced the top, replaced the exhaust manifold, chromed the valve cover, new steering rack, new shock springs bushings, Upgraded the radio to a modern late modern system and installed Bosch Fog Lights.  The fog lights were nearly impossible to find but it adds to the originallity of the car as that is what was used when they car was new and it was wired for them from the factory.

This year, the projects will include new paint, new factory correct graphics/decals as what is on the car is close but not quite correct.  In fact we had an few extras cut in case anyone needs a set for their Spider.  Additionally, the plan is to get some raised white letter tires, new chrome luggage rack and a new front spoiler.

I am involved in the local british car club www.foxbrits.com and enjoy talking cars.

Re: Tell us about your Triumph

I've got a 1979 TR7. I just recently got it in the garage and am going to start work on it. I bought some wheel adapters and got those put on. Now I need tires for my wheels.
    Its a love affair.
