no power

    no power

    at last a sunny day. after an enjoyable drive i pulled up in my driveway and my  mga stopped ,no ignition lights on power at all, nothing.

    I have checked the usual places but no go.

    please help ,i dont want to waste another sunny day.

    Well its got be be somewhere! Lets start at the beginning..

    1. check the battery voltage...12.6V to 14V volts is good.

    2. Now, move the black lead of your meter to the chassis (assuming a positive ground, if negative ground, move the red lead to the chassis), do you still read the same voltage as you did right at the battery? If so, it's not your ground cable(s).

    What year is your car? Is there a schematic on line that I can access? What have you already checked?

    Davey - Want to rethink the positioning of the meter leads for positive or negative ground?

    problem solved . following your advise i discovered the earth cable was disconected.

    Yes I guess that I had a little case of slysdexia!

    But still the message made it through and the problem was solved...Thanks for checking my work though!!!
