    TR4 Compression

What would one expect to see for compression on a healthy TR4?

I've got 190 lbs!  Heads been shaved several times . Maybe a thicker head gasket would help?

Any one have any experience with after market solid copper oversize  head gaskets?

    Re: TR4 Compression

Why would you want to lower that compression? It is not excessively high. I have 185 in my 2138cc TR3 and am doing OK.

    Re: TR4 Compression

That get's me back to what kind of compression would one expect on a  healthy stock  2138cc  TR 4.

I think mine might be high and contributing to dieseling on shut down.  I'v e eliminated all other causes and don't want a diesel under the  bonnet when I shut her down.  Thanks: KSD

    Re: TR4 Compression

I really can't answer your question, KSD. By your efforts to eliminate dieseling, though, did it include things like higher octane or octane boost, lowering the idle speed and, as much as I dislike this, retarding the timing ?

    Re: TR4 Compression

Yes to all of that. I'm going to pull the head for other issues and when I do will look for any sharp edges or other problems in the combustion chamber that might account for the dieseling

I'v posed the compression question several different ways and on other sites and still hanv't gotten a number for compression on a healthy stock TR 4 . Hard to believe !   KSD
