    Problem with the thing

I've been having a problem with that thing under the hood. You know the thing...it's made of metal - that one.

Anyway, I tried twisting the whatchamacallit till the hoosamadinger lined up with the canutinator, but the whats-zits still won't work!

    Any ideas?

Oh by the way, my car is an old green one!

    Re: Problem with the thing

Davey, that's extremely serious and should be looked at immediately by a trained professional. I have a friend in Meridan that's a doctor of Psychiatry that might be able to help you. He specializes in non-functioning hoosamadingers and whats-zits.  Wink

    Re: Problem with the thing

    davey,

Before you take any advice from Bill Young, I'd suggest you read his signature line one more time, carefully. He may have crossed it...

Advice from me, on the other hand, has been PROVEN to be "unstable". But, at least with me you know what you"re getting!

Oh yeah, that thing under the hood. I'd remove it. I hear they're quite heavy and can positively wreck your mileage. (which may vary)

    Yours for sane motoring,

    Re: Problem with the thing

    Davey,

I highly recommend an adapter kit sold by Moss Mozambique that allows you to substitute a 1952-1952 ½ Nasser 5-speed doohickey for the original MG  thingamabob—totally eliminates the thing under the hood that’s giving you such trouble.

    Re: Problem with the thing

Davey, They do say that blue is a nice peacefull colour for the problem as you describe it! Probably holding a plug-lead whilst standing in a galvanised tub of water, as a close friend cranks the engine and utters a few kind reassuring words could help also. Of course we could  supply you with said words if you feel the need! Does anyone out there rember the expression "daft as a brush"?!!    Cheers  - -   steve

    Re: Problem with the thing

davey, back in 1965, a friend of mine had the same problem. I ran into him last year at a car show and it still isn't fixed, but he was still able to drive the car. I wouldn't worry about it.

    Re: Problem with the thing

Thanks for all your help so far! This is certainly an eclectic group!

One more bit of information, I believe that the torque is right because I kept turning the ratchet handle till the tip of the Torx bit broke off ....that means it's right, right?

    Re: Problem with the thing

    NO NO NO!

You torque the thing til it breaks, then back off 1/8th turn. You guys just never learn.

Also, don't you accuse me of being electric, pal. I'm steam powered...

    Good evening,

    Re: Problem with the thing

    Davey-

    Some questions:

    Does it have gas?

    Does it have spark?

    Does it have compression?

What kind of noise does it make?

Do you have a credit card/unlimited funds?

    Do you have unlimited time?

Do you have a Moss Motors Catalogue?

Don't worry, if you have all of the above I'm sure it is repairable.
