    Frogeye Wire Wheels

    Hi

Has anyone fitted wire wheels to their Frogeye? I don't know what width rims to fit, assuming there is a choice, but want to fit atleast 165X13 tyres. What is the likelihood of the tyres rubbing the wheel arches etc.?  By the way it is fitted with Midget discs and calipers. Would I have to change the front hubs?

    Re: Frogeye Wire Wheels

Many Frogeyes have been fitted with wire wheels. I didn't think that wires were an option here in the states, but they were in GB. You can go two ways, either a bolt on hub adaptor kit which will bolt on to your existing hubs front and rear or as the factory did and change out both front hubs and the rear differential housing which was about an inch or so narrower on wire wheel cars. With the bolt on adaptors you may have some tire rub as the wheels will be spaced out mroe than usual, but with the correct hubs and rear axle assembly they should fit perfectly. Moss should have all the parts you need for the conversion except for the axle housing which may be a bit difficult, but there were quite a few later early box Sprites and MKI Midgets made with wires and that housing would work as it's also for the quarter eliptic springs. I don't see the bolt on conversion listed in the Moss catalog, you'd have to try elsewhere for that.
