Ive been on the journey of irritation that is replacing the windscreen and seals on a roadster..wow..Id love to know what jigs and equipment they had at the factory to avoid that production bottleneck.
So second time around the screen is all back together nicely with new screen to body seal and new glass to frame seal. Now I also have new screen to quarterlight seals and retainersbut Im wondering how these are replaced as there is a retainer underneath the seal that is riveted to the frame...the seal slides into a groove in this retainer. Then there is a further retainer strip which is screwed at the top and bottom to the lower retainer, but the rubber has no holes and covers these screws. you cant use the trick of compressing the seal as with the body seal to get to the screws as its clamped by the very screws you are trying to access!
So how do you replace these seals and retainers without tearing the seals...?
PS also does anyone have any bright ideas for getting the nut and washer back on the bottom of the innermost fastner/peg for the hood above the rear wheel arch. I can barely get my finger underneath the hole, let alone get a washer and nut on it.
