    Hard brake peddle

Recently I have restored an 79 B .Including wheel cylanders, pads, lines etc. It seems to me that although the peddle feels hard when attempting to stop the response is not as it should be.In other words I could not skid the tires. In my mind it is as if the pressure applied is not getting to the pad s & shoes.

Could some of you with experiece help me out with this bit of annoyance. Thanks  T J

    Re: Hard brake peddle

You might have a clog somewhere preventing the pressure from getting to all the pads. Your rear breaks may be fine, but not the fronts, or vice-versa.

Examine the break at each wheel, one at a time. Look for evidence of a stuck caliper/ wheel cylinder.

    TJ-

Did you have the drums and discs turned? If not, the new pads and shoes will need to bed in to all the tiny grooves in the old parts before working well. Even if you did turn the discs/drums, it does take some time to bed in the new friction material. Does a 79 B have a brake booster servo? If so, follow the instructions in the manual for checking its proper operation.

    Good Luck!
