    Z-S Carbs?!?

I have transitioned from the TR3 forum to the TR6 forum, having sold my TR3 just over a year ago and recently purchased a TR6.  The car ran well on the 3 hour journey to it's home in my modest stable, but I sensed the carbs were running slightly rich.  I put my Colortune on and discovered this was the case.  But when I adjusted to a leaner mixture, "bunson burner blue", the car misfired and sputtered, backfiring through the carbs.  I have gone back to a full rich mixture, the needle adjusted as far as it will go clockwise, and it seemed to run well.  However, about 3 miles into my test drive, the engine begin to misfire and I was running on 5 cylinders.  These Z-S carbs don't seem to be as adjustable as my old SU's.  I found many detailed tuning instructions for the SU's, does anyone have a similar resource online for Z-S?  Any other advice is welcomed.

    Thanks,

    Tony

Is your ignition system and timing correct?

Here is a great reference for ZS carbs and tuning them. If they are healthy they are actually pretty darn good, and they are pretty easy to correctly rebuild as well.
