    Time to replace the bushings?

I've browsed the forums and web about when, why and how to replace the front suspension bushings, and I suspect that I already know the answer to my question: is it time to replace the bushings on my 1980B? I've posted images of the bushings in my gallery, here:

Is there any reason not to replace the cross member mounting pads at the same time, given that they're likely of the same age and state of decay?

Re: Time to replace the bushings?

Sorry it took so long for someone to answer your question. Yes, from your photos it is definitely time to replace the bushings. They're not as bad as some but they're starting to sag and allow the alignment of the front to change, so time to replace them. I personally recommend using polyurethane bushings in place of the original rubber items or even the steel sleeved V8 bushings, but that's a personal preference. I wouldn't think that the crossmember pads need any attention, they aren't subjected to the amount of force the A frame bushings are or the twisting motion. Of course if you're getting strang noise from the front and can't track it down you should check the mounting bolts for the cross member and see if they are tight, if the pads have begun to fail the bolts will slacken a bit, but for the most part they're pretty much a non issue.
