    TR4 Timing chain slack

The shop manual gives 10MM max slack for the timing chain. I've got about 7MM and since I'm in there I'm going to replace chain and spring tensioner in hopes of quieting down my engine. I've also noticed that the teeth on the cam gear are very sharp.  Is this normal?  Thanks: KSD

    KSD,

Yes, it's normal, but it indicates that the sprocket is shot. Replace both sprockets, the chain, and the tensioner. It's a pain, but by far it is worth it.
