Replacing Suspension Bushes - Poly / Rubber

    Replacing Suspension Bushes - Poly / Rubber

    I have a 74 1/2 RB MGB GT. I am going to replace front and rear suspension bushes and springs. For the front I was going to use the Moss black polyurethane bushings 280-485 for A-arms and upper front trunnion 281-405.

    For the rear suspension bushes and spring pads should I also use poly bushes or can I use the less expensive rubber bushes and pads? Will it effect ride / perfromance if I do not use poly bushes for front and rear? Will I be creating any handling issues if I mix poly and rubber?

    I will only be doing normal street driving.  Appreciate any input.

    Mixing bushes won't cause you any problems as long as you keep them identical side to side. I'm not sure about this fascination with the hard poly bushes I'm seeing these days. We've found the inner MGBGTV8 A-arm bushes offered in the catalog as an alternative will last as long as you do, and are easy to install. They are firmer than the original chewing gum installed at the factory, but not so harsh.

    Thanks for the input. The only reason I was considering the poly bushes was for longevity. I am happy to use the MGBGTV8 now that I know they will last. Looks like it will be those and rubber for everything else.  

    I bought the car used in 1978 and I belive they are the original bushes. After a 23 year rest, it is now back in top form and running great. The last major mechanical refresh is the suspension. Now that this question is answered work can begin.
