    well ive started , and have cut the major bits from the floor pans. Next Job ,,, drill out the welds and grind it off ... noisey and dirty work ...but hey.  I was looking at removing the outer sills etc .. Do i have to brace the door frames for this ? or will the castle section  hold it rigid.

    If you are going to cut the dogleg and the sill off then you had better brace your door openings or you are in for a world of hurt. Before you cut any more adjust your door gap and fit. Use a floor jack under the sill to lift the body and open up the top gap if required. Get some 1" by 1" angle iron and WELD a piece from the front A post(hinge area) to the rear B post(latch area) at the top inside the car. This welded on the inside of the door opening will allow the door to swing open for working  and closed for fitting your new rockers and should hold your structural integrity. Do one side at a time! Don't remove the left and right sills without some serious bracing. Also you can cross brace from left front A pillar to the right B pillar and vice versa in addition to the door openings.

    The rocker panels and the inner sills are a load bearing structural member of the cars unibody.

    Thanks Dave, i'll leave them alone then for the time being, and simply grind out what remains of the floor pans. I want to be as invloved as possible in the restoration process hence why i am doing allot myself ....also comes down to the almighty $$$$ .

     I thought it was a VISA requirement to enter Australia , that you drink beer ... :)

    Hey all,

     I may have access to a body Rotisserie, i was thinking i could spin the car upside down to do the reapirs to the castle rails ( AFTER I HAVE BRACED EVERYTHING ) ... would this be the way to go ?? if i decide to do it myself that is...

    Having a rotisserie will make the job much easier and more pleasant to work on. You can get things up to a good comfortable height and position for you and get much better access in some areas for welding. Definitely the way to go if you can. This of course is going to add some work for you as to use the rotisserie you'll probably have to remove the drive train and petrol tank to prevent leaks, but that also will give you improved access and allow you to clean up all the body in preparation for the repaint.
