    Re: New member

hi.curlyboy,i live in the midlands { rugeley} well someone has to.theres actually quite a few classics in my area, including tr6s.i have a 73 mgb gt which i use all year round in the dry.looks like being even wetter this year than last.

the tr6 was - is a great looking car,i can  still remember them when they were new, always liked them.

I.m a member of the boring keep it as standard  as possible brigade.if i could offer any advice it would be to keep it as standard as you can.even down to not fitting k and n air filters etc. you will never be able to keep up with modern cars - audis, bmw's,mercedees or even fiat 500 etc etc.

the tr comes from another era,and as such  you can not expect a classic to compete with modern cars, and some of the idiots who seem to insist in overtaking you at all costs.Enjoy it as it is with all its old original parts, thats what its all about and the way it was intended.

    regards

    phil

Hi Phil, thanks for the reply, I live in Cornwall and it very is very wet here also! Yes I do intend to keep the car very near standard, although I am uprating the brakes and suspension as I think it will handle much better. As for not keeping up with modern traffic I can assure you that It does make good account of itself, or maybe it's my aggressive driving style, this might change though as I will be an "old age pensioner" in February!!! Getting a "flat 'at" for christmas.

I couldn't agree with Phil more. I am lost as to why anyone would buy a TR6 for the love of that particular era of car and then spend thousands and thousands of dollars (here, pounds there) trying to make a Porsche out of it. For less money, you could keep your TR6 stock and buy a Porsche 911 for those times when you want to drive a Porsche. No matter how much you spend on it, it's still a TR6 with the maximum value and characteristics of a TR6.

    Re: New member

Sorry guys, mental flashback/seniors moment, got carried away!. Should be some might say!

Standard  British sports-car attire of the late 50s and  sixties included open-neck shirt  with cravatte[ascot!!] tweed jacket, cavalry-twill trousers and most importantly a 'flat at' [cap] and yellow kid-gloves, string-backed. Immortalised by one Lonnie Donegon, skiffle king of that era, in a song called 'Putting on the Style', line goes - - -  young man in his hotrod car driving like he's mad, in a pair of yella gloves hes borrowed from his dad - - - - etc etc. Itunes will have it!  On that note I will go back and play with my spanners again.       Cheers     - - - - steve

Thanks, Steve. I got the picture now. I got me one of those flat at's myself. It's kind of an oil cloth job.

You put that sucker on backwards, top down, it's Barney Oldfield time !!!!!
