I have a 1967 BJ8, which I bought upon returning from Southeast Asia in 1968 (it had 3000 miles on it and cost $2300, which was a lot of money to me back then). It was the first car I ever owned and it's now undergoing a complete restoration.  The products available now for upgrading the car are light years ahead of the original "technology" of the Healey. I have garnered information on many components during this rebuild and will be happy to share it with anyone interested.

It says Austin Healey Sprite on the log book and despite what some owners of other Austin Healeys may think, it is a REAL Austin Healey.

1962 BT7 Tri-Carb,  Always a California car, owned a bout 2 years,  Colorado red, black  interior, red piping,  a  solid driver I am  upgrading as I can.

The engine was rebuilt in New Jersey by a race-builder. He had to install new valves and valve seats, as the gasoline is different now. If you are near the Jersey Shore, I can get you his name, address, etc. I might warn you that he's not cheap!!!!

The bodywork was/is being done by Pete's Auto Body in Farmingdale, NJ.  He's a real perfectionist, but the end results are incredible. Pete's paint finishing makes the car look as glass!

I am doing the wiring and will add relays and a real fuse panel to the car. I am changing it to negative ground and installing an alternator. I have names of shops to do the conversions to Negative ground (you'll have to change the tach electrics among other components).

The interior (carpeting and upholstery) is being done at a custom shop here in Pennsylvania.  I hope this helps. Please contact me if you'd like more specific information.
