    Wire wheel hubs

I'm looking for knowledge on wire wheel hubs for Brit cars.  I'm adapting the manual tire changer sold by Harbor Freight to work with wire wheels on MGA & MGB.  I have 16 wire wheels and don't want to have them mangled by tire shops so I went with my own changer.

My question...  Is there a difference between cars for hub diameter and splines on MGA, MGB and MG Midget?  I'd like to buy one hub to fit all wheels if possible.  I know there are differences on threads and LH/RH for knockoffs but that makes no difference since I will not be securing the wheels on the machine with knockoffs.  The MG Midget hub looks like a great candidate since it's flat and can be simply bolted to the changer.  Any insight would be apreciated.

    Re: Wire wheel hubs

The splines are the same for all MGs and the hub length is also compatable. A simple adaptor can be made from an old front hub with the rear machined flat. I used a B hub and the lug nut "pin" on the tire changer will locate into one of the holes for the brake disk. The same adaptor can also be used on a blancer. On the front you'll need a knock off nut with the center machined out to clear the post so the locking nut can be run down. I'm a bit surprised about the tire changer though, wire wheels don't have any sort of bead retainer and it's pretty easy to change a tire and tube with just a couple of tire irons on the floor. I mounted the tires on my wires that way without any hassle. A machine is definitely a plus and absolutely a necessity if dealing with tubeless tires and rims.
