    1973 MGB

    1973 MGB Roadster - Blaze Red, 76k miles - $5200

Blaze red (orange!) chrome bumper 1973 MGB Mark III roadster with 76k miles.  1798cc B-Series 4 cylinder engine with 4-speed manual transmission and original Rostyle wheels.  Looks and drives great -- gets a lot of attention!  Older respray in good shape; lots of new parts but mostly original and unrestored.  No accidents, body is straight, chrome is bright with only very minor pitting, and car is complete.  Some rust on passenger side rocker, and a few cracks/bubbles in paint on seams.  Reliable, no overheating, oil pressure is good at 75psi at speed, 50 at idle.

Many new parts in the last several years  -- professional head rebuild, carbs rebuilt, new tires, new exhaust, front suspension completely rebuilt with all new rubber bits and V8 control arm bushings.  Brakes, steering, and front end is tight.  Stops straight, shifts fine.  Controls, HVAC, wipers, and lights all function fine (except the horn and fuel gauge).  Car is not perfect but you need to really look to find the flaws.  Garaged always.  Cheap to insure, and no inspection needed since it's over 35 years old.  Comes with a half tonneau, full tonneau, new top (not installed), dust cover, Haynes manual, and box of spares.

Reason I'm selling?  After 5 years of ownership, it's time for me to move onto other projects (restoring a motorcycle) and it's time for someone else to enjoy this MGB.  Call Mike at 919-454-5445 or whit32@gmail.com.  Clear title in my name in my hand.  Car is located in Cary, NC near Hwy 55 and High House road.  More pictures at http://picasaweb.google.com/whit32/2009MGB#

    Recent work (last 1000 miles)
    - Head rebuilt by CHS in Wake Forest with valve job, new stem seals, new valve seats
    - Brand new exhaust from header back
    - Front suspension rebuilt completely with new V8 bushings and all new rubber
    - Rebuilt carbs with complete kit and new floats
    - Brand new tires
    - New top (not installed)
    - Seats rebuilt with new webbing
    - Lucas sport coil, new plugs, and new wires

Some issues -- all minor and do not affect how well it drives
    - One rip in driver seat
    - Fuel gauge not working, bad sender (cheap to replace)
    - Rust on passenger rocker and several minor rust bubbles on seams, some cracking in paint
    - Charging light on although alternator is putting out plenty of amps (could be one faulty diode)
