    Overdrive Question

First trip to this site, but definitely not my last!  Question:  Does anyone out there know if an MGC overdrive will fit a 70s era MGB?   R.

    Re: Overdrive Question

The late model overdrive unit will fit any MGB/MGC/MGBGTV8.  The difference is the bell housing, all three are different.  Internals are the same except for gear ratios.  If you are not far away from SC I would trade you a MGB od gearbox for your MGC od gearbox.  I dont have any MGB's but do have C's.

Thank you for taking time to respond to my post.  Sounds like you are ino MGCs... would love to chat.  Mine has been in storage in north Georgia for 10 years; the drivetrain was perfect when parked.  I always kept it immaculate, but rust is the culprit that did it in when I foolishly drove it on the beach; aluminum parts, i.e. deck & bonnet are fine.  Putting the overdrive into one of my MGBs was a consideration, but it might be better to eventually put the entire drivetrain in a nice, solid rustfree body... or perhaps sell it to a real enthusiast who has the time and wherewithall to do it now.  Your thoughts on this?  Maybe we could work something out of mutual benefit.  If you are interested and/or have any ideas, I can first be reached at rlwdaytona500@gmail.com and we will go from there.

    Thanks again,
