    Fender Piping

Does anyone have any helpful hints for setting fender bead (piping) so that it is straight and uniform?

    Thanks in advance,

Rich, first it helps to make sure the body and the fender lip is straight, sometimes it's wavy from overtightening and then leave the new piping out in the sun for a while,it will make it nice and plyable and install it a little at a time, get it straight slightly snug the bolts down, and then when done tighten all the bolts, this is how I did it on my A.

From what several friends that have MGAs have told me it also helps to have another person who can watch the piping from the outside as you tighten so that they can tell you if you need to pull it in more or release the tension a bit.

I really think the answer is to get really good fender welting. I highly recommend Metro Molding: http://www.metrommp.com. I have used their fender welting on both my MGA and TF.  Folks who have nicer cars than I have complimented on how well the welting looks.
