    British classics for tall people...

alright...i've convinced the wife that i NEED a british sports car for my well-being however out of all the times i've been to british car shows i've never taken the time to get a feel for what would fit me...i'm 6'4" and my interests are narrowed to:  1.  MGA, 2.  Triumph TR3 or TR4, 3.  Austin Healey Bugeye...anybody have any suggestions for me other than telling me good luck?...

We have a guy in our club who is also 6’4”, he owns and drives long distances in his TD.  He has sat in my MGA and says it’s not roomy enough.  My suggestion is to ask to sit in as many cars as you can.

I have a 6' 5" mechanic in the shop. Believe me when I tell you that you will be looking over the top of the windscreen in any of the cars you mention. I suppose you could do some modifications to lower the seat on some of our cars, but forget the Sprite/Midget machines. I'm six feet and I am not comfortable in them. Must the machine be a convertible?

Sit in an MGBGT some time. I can get into one of these and wear a tall hat doing it. Make no mistake, this IS a real sports car. If you simply have to have a roadster you will either need to become inventive or live with compromise. Happy hunting.

I would go with the Bugeye... if it were me. Maybe not the easiest car to get into, but once you in there is a lot of room and it's fun to drive. I have a friend that is 6'5" and 450lbs (No lie) and I took him for a ride in my Bugeye (scrapping all the way). Once he got in he was fine room wise, except his stomach hit the dashboardBig Smile. The Bugeye will be the cheaper one to get and very easy to work on, although most people do not consider the Bugeye a true sportscar.

thanks for the responses...it sounds like it depends on the build of the person...i've got a friend who is the same height as me and he has a TR6...his knees rub the dash but mine don't...my torso's a bit longer than his...i'll bide my time til next summer and make some new friends at the shows...thanks again, rob...
