    Dave,

What kind of problems are you having?

The usual method is to have the IRS on a floor jack (with the car on floor stands), install the front rubber mounts to the car frame and the rear rubber mounts to the IRS. Jack the IRS in place, install the mount side shims if required, and you should be set.

    Re: IRS on 1969 etype

    Thanks for the reply John.

The main problem is that I get the  IRS in (with a major battle) and then it is not centered!!! in fact last time it was out by .5 inch.

So I will try what you suggested and see if it goes any easier.

P.S. at first I was worried that the car had been hit and that the  body lines were off , but I had it lasered for straightness and it is right on.

It had inner forward shimms welded inplace. They are about .25 inch thick and the new mounts  do not fit with them in.The front and rear frame mounting area s are not the same thickness. (rear being thicker)  So I just do not get it.

Any help would be really appreciated.

I just did this. No big trick to it except you may have to use a jack at the front of the cage to get lift to make the radius arms move forward to align them with the cups. Its an inch by inch kind of thing to install. You will want the rear mounts bolted to the body. The front mounts might go either way. I had mine on the cage, but I would probably try them on the body next time because the shims are difficult to install later.

    Re: IRS on 1969 etype

    Dave,

You may want to compare your new mounts to your old ones.

Another forum I participate in has mentionned that some aftermarket mounts are way off!  They posted pictures of the original and the replacement mount side by side, and its enough to make you nuts...! There is no way the aftermarket  they showed could possibly fit.

    Good luck.

    Re: IRS on 1969 etype

Thanks for all the help. I finally got it in!! My question now is: when I am under the car and looking straight up at the diff/ drive shaft , it seems to me that the shaft attaches to the diif more on the drivers side of the car. In fact it is quite noticable. I have meassured other components and they all seem to be placed in the right place. Is this normal?? the Diff does seem to be no symetrical and seems to be offset to the drive side (left).

Would this not create problems for the drive shaft?
