TR6,
I understand your frustration. But the increasing prices of parts are due more to a global economic picture than greed. Try to remember that the cost of doing business continues to rise at an alarming rate, regardless of what price was paid for the "parts on the shelf" I say this not as a big time parts supplier but as a small Britcar businessman. My own overhead has increased this year by a staggering amount, and if I'm going to stay here to serve the British car community, I've got to increase my prices as well. If I was Richard Branson, perhaps I'd just take it on the chin for a couple of years. Alas, If I hold the price line in spite of the cost of energy and bread, I'll be gone in a few months. IT stinks, but it's true
As far as your suggestion of boycotting the suppliers for "a few months" goes, the prices wouldn't drop, the suppliers would. Then where would we be? Sending far MORE cash overseas to get what we need. Believe me, the major suppliers are no happier about all this than you are. I know people inside the parts industry. If you really think it would be cheaper to build a GOOD Japanese performance car I invite you to try.
I know it sucks, brother, but we are ALL in it together. Try to be understanding. If you want to see where the real greed is you'll have to look much further up the food chain than Moss or Victoria British, et.al. Chin up.
