    Fuel Blockage

    Jaguar Fuel Pump Problem?
If you have a problem getting fuel to your carbs, don't assume that your fuel pump is bad. On older model Jaguars there is a drain plug on the bottom of your fuel tank. The plug should be removed and the screen cleaned by soaking it in lacquer thinner until all foreign matter is removed. If the screen is blocked, your car will idle normally but will die when you accelerate. It is easy to mistake this problem for a faulty fuel pump.
