Re: Do you own a Clissic Mini

Hello Oz, I don't have a Mini but I have a Mini engine the classic 1275. I would like some more info on this engine can I still buy a new 1275cc in the U.K. and was this engine used up until 2000 in the Austin Mini? I really love the 1275cc they don't have that much power but are very strong!

    Hi James2

Thanks for being the first to postCool yes you can still buy new engines in the UK at present, However the later cars after 1990 changed to the SPI and then 1996 onwards to the MPI. What you would need is the A series engine and not an A+

Its quite easy to get the A series engine over the 100bhp mark without to much money being spent! Or you could always go the easy route and bolt on a blowerStick out tongue Hope this has answered your questions.

Re: Do you own a Classic Mini

Hi, I own a 1993 Rover Mini Cabriolet. I have owned her for eight years and had the body work restored a couple of years ago along with a full respray.

If anyone is interested, I have been building a web site about the Mini Cabriolet. There is also a register and a forum that has been set up by somene else. We'd love to hear from other owners...

Re: Do you own a Classic Mini

I have a 1963 Austin Cooper that I'm upgrading to "S" specification. I have a 1275 S motor from a 1965 and 7.5" brakes. I'm in process on a complete frame-off restoration. Car will be Fiesta Yellow with a Powder Blue Brocade interior, as it was from new.

See some photos on the Moss site under bamnow.

    Thanks.

I hope to get some serious effort into it in the next 30 days. Subframes have been powdercoated, suspension components painted with Hammerite, seats out for reupholstery, etc. Goal is to have the car ready by early September.

Note that I didn't say what year.....

Re: Do you own a Classic Mini

    Hi Guys!

I am new on a forum so I think that should introduce myself first. My name is Lukasz, I am Polish (I want to apologize for my english at this point. I still learn) and love cars! I used to play with car tuning before (still have modyfied Seat Ibiza 2001) but now I am most interested in my classic friend - Mini Racing, Flame Red 1989!

My Mini needs some attention right now. I need to replace steering rack or stering column... actually don't exactly know which of those parts. Also MOT comes in a month. Do you know a good specialist around Ealing or west London?

I have plans to restore Mini. Have some vision, a colour in mind, interior idea... Now I am trying to complete budget for that Wink
