Slotted Brake Rotors
Under hard use your brake pads emit gasses which cause the pads to plane over the surface of the rotors. The grooves in our slotted brake rotors channel the gasses away from the braking surface and guard against brake fade. In wet conditions the same problem can occur with moisture getting trapped between the pad and rotor. The slot gives the moisture a path to escape and allow your brakes to function as intended.
As the brake pads wear, the used friction material turns into a fine dust creating a boundary layer of gas and dust between the pad and rotor surfaces inhibiting performance. Here's where our slotted rotors make a big difference.
The slots also act as a visual wear indicator. The slots are machined to the rotor's minimum thickness. If you can't see the slots anymore then the rotor is worn out and should be discarded.
